Youth Development Professional
Position Overview:
The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising high-quality programs and activities for youth ages 5–18. This role ensures a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that promotes academic success, healthy lifestyles, and positive character development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all youth at all times (indoors, outdoors, and on field trips)
- Plan and implement structured, engaging, and age-appropriate activities in core program areas:
- Education & Career Development
- Health & Wellness
- Character & Leadership
- The Arts & Recreation
- Maintain effective group control using positive behavior management techniques
- Build positive relationships with youth, serving as a mentor and role model
- Track attendance, participation, and program outcomes as required
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe program spaces
- Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and leadership
- Assist with daily operations including snack distribution, transitions, and program setup/cleanup
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, or related field preferred)
- Experience working with youth in an after-school, camp, or educational setting preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage groups of youth in a structured environment
- Energetic, positive, and team-oriented mindset
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must pass background screening and meet all child safety requirements

Work Environment & Schedule:
- Primarily after-school hours (afternoons and early evenings)
- Additional hours may be required for summer programs, events, and field trips
